The Avro Lancaster was undoubtedly the RAF’s greatest bomber of WWII. Stemming from the unsuccessful Avro Manchester, the British Lancaster carried the night bomber offensive deep into occupied Europe. The long unobstructed bomb bay enabled the biggest bombs to be carried for the RAF. Over 7,300 Lancasters were built, with the last being delivered in 1946.
