The Avro Lancaster story offers us a view of one of the most successful and famous aircraft of the Second World War. The Lancaster took the air war back to the Axis forces flying its first operations in the Spring of 1942. Its impact was so great, and the job it performed was so important, that within three years of combat, the RAF had 56 squadrons equipped with this superb fighting machine.
