Climbing outbound at first light over Beachy Head, a de Havilland Mosquito equipped with the blind bombing navigational aid ‘Oboe’, leads fellow Pathfinder Avro Lancasters on a precision strike mission over enemy held territory. During WW2, Pathfinder squadrons performed a vital role in leading the way for the main bomber force by accurately marking and bombing targets, day and night. They very much lived up to their motto: ‘We Guide to Strike’ with great skill and courage, many paying the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
